Neighborhoods · Portland
Buying a home in Portland.
Oregon's largest city, split into five sections by the Willamette River and Burnside Street, with housing that ranges from century-old bungalows to downtown high-rises.
- County
- Multnomah, with small parts in Washington and Clackamas
- Transit
- All five MAX lines, the Portland Streetcar, and TriMet buses
- Highways
- I-5, I-84, I-205, I-405, and US-26
Homes you'll find.
On the east side you'll find Craftsman bungalows and Old Portland foursquares, many built in the early 1900s. Outer Southeast and Southwest have more mid-century ranches on bigger lots. Condos cluster in the Pearl District, South Waterfront, and Goose Hollow, and the West Hills have view homes on winding streets.
Older homes come with older systems. I recommend a sewer scope and a close look at the electrical panel on almost every pre-1950 house.
Getting around.
Portland is one of the easier U.S. cities to live in without driving everywhere. MAX light rail, the streetcar, frequent buses, and a large bike network connect most close-in areas. Commutes from the outer east side and the West Hills usually mean I-84, I-205, or US-26.

Buying in Portland with me.
I have helped clients buy in Goose Hollow, Mount Tabor, Marshall Park, and Southeast Portland. Prices and inventory change month to month, so text me for current numbers on the homes and streets you're watching. I'll pull recent sales and tell you what I'd offer.
I describe places, housing, and amenities. I do not steer buyers toward or away from any neighborhood based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, national origin, or any other protected class.
